"Cannot thank you enough for your guidance regarding the firearm as well as the shotgun stippling – both were extremely helpful in navigating the case and being able to have productive, intelligent discussions with the Medical Examiner and the prosecuting attorney. I will definitely reach out in the future if I have another case with these types of issues."
"I have not taken time to say how much the family appreciates the effort you put into my nephew’s case. After a 3 day hearing, the jury took only 30 minutes to change the manner and the cause of death to undetermined based on all the inconsistencies in the way the case was handled from the beginning. Even though it will not bring him back, at least it removed the stigma from his death certificate. My family and I are most grateful for what you have done for us. Thanks again for your work on this case. I appreciate your objectivity and your review of the evidence."
"The other day, two months before trial and days after I gave notice on our use of the expert, the prosecutors called me saying that, despite all of their policies about not giving an offer in the case, an offer would now be made. After some back and forth, the defendant accepted a plea under 11(c)(1)(C) to 60 months. Under the circumstances, that was a very favorable deal and its extension, I think, had a lot to do with having an expert and letting the government know that we were going with a full-throated forensic defense. "
"You're right, it's not what I want to hear but it's absolutely what I needed to know. Thank you so much for your assistance."
"Thank you Mr. Jarvis, and thank you for looking at this case so quickly. This examination was critical in this case and I appreciate your efforts, particularly given the short time frame at play."
"My firm hired Jay to assist with an investigation of a shooting fatality incident in relation to a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit potentially would have exposed my clients and other defendants to a high verdict after lengthy and costly litigation efforts. Jay was very professional through the entire investigation. He worked with my team to explain issues relating to ballistics and bullet trajectory in a way that we could then explain to a jury. The results of Jay’s investigation were critical in resolving the matter and would have been very helpful if the case had not settled. I highly recommend Jay to anyone handling litigation involving firearms or shootings."
Testimonials
"We represented a client in a case in which the client was charged with Murder and a number of other serious charges. Our client was facing life without parole as a result of these charges. The evidence against our client was tough. However, Jay was able to take a hard look at things and come up with a logical and creative explanation for the evidence that allowed us to cast doubt on our client's involvement in the murder. This was critical in our team later getting the Murder charge dismissed. We were then able to negotiate a favorable plea agreement on the other charges. Throughout his engagement, Jay was exceptionally professional, responsive, and pleasant. His fees were also very reasonable given his experience. I would recommend him to any attorney who has a case in which his expertise might be of use."
"In July of 2018, my brother was involved in a self-defense shooting. Local law enforcement and prosecutors chose to believe the eyewitness account of the individual's wife my brother had to shoot in order to protect himself. This account of the incident had many inconsistencies that did not fit the physical evidence of the case, but for whatever reason, my brother was charged and later indicted on a felony murder charge. At that point, our family didn't know where to turn for help. After searching the internet, I came across Mr. Jarvis' website. I immediately contacted him by email that day. He responded to me the same day and sent me a list of things he'd like to have to review the case. After reviewing the information, he agreed to help us on the case. He was so dedicated that he came to testify in my brother's immunity hearing while he and his family was on a beach vacation. Unfortunately, the judge wasn't able to discern the truth from the evidence, so we had to go to a jury trial. Mr. Jarvis helped us in preparing for the trial, even recommending a Medical Examiner to review the autopsy and point out the errors made in that procedure. After two days of presenting the facts of the case to a jury by our defense team, it only took the jury a couple hours of deliberation to come back with a not guilty verdict. My family will never be able to thank or repay Mr. Jarvis for all the things he did to make that verdict a reality."
